Can I complete my PT session assessment from home or outdoors?
Yes — you can film your PT session assessment at home or outdoors, as long as you meet the assessment criteria and coach safely.
If you don’t have access to a gym, you’re welcome to complete your practical assessment in a home setup or outdoor environment such as a park, garden, or open training space. The location doesn’t affect your mark — what matters most is demonstrating effective coaching, communication, and safe programming.
Your session should still:
-
Match your client’s goals and planned outcomes.
-
Include a clear warm-up, main session, and cool-down phase.
-
Incorporate some form of resistance or functional training where possible (e.g., using bodyweight, bands, or household equipment).
-
Show your ability to coach effectively, including:
-
Monitoring technique and intensity.
-
Giving feedback and correcting form.
-
Progressing or regressing exercises appropriately.
-
You don’t need to film every set for each exercise — focus on quality of coaching over quantity of footage.
If you have limited equipment:
Get creative! You can use:
-
Resistance bands, water bottles, backpacks, or bodyweight movements for resistance work.
-
Outdoor features (benches, steps, or rails) for functional exercises.
The key is demonstrating that you can design and deliver a safe, goal-focused session tailored to your client — regardless of location or equipment.
💡 Tip: Before filming, review the assessment criteria and your planned session to make sure every required element is clearly covered in your video.
