Can I take part in the Mat or Reformer Pilates course if I am pregnant or recently postnatal?
Yes — pregnant and postnatal learners are fully welcome on both our Mat and Reformer Pilates courses.
Your safety, comfort, and learning experience are our top priorities. Many learners successfully complete their Pilates training while pregnant or during the postnatal period, and we are here to support you every step of the way.
If you are pregnant
You are welcome to begin or continue the course during pregnancy as long as you feel well enough.
During workshops and practical sessions:
-
Your trainer will offer safe adaptations and alternatives for any exercises that aren’t appropriate.
-
Some movements may not be suitable at certain stages of pregnancy — you can observe whenever needed, which still counts as valuable learning.
-
Please communicate openly with your tutor about how you’re feeling so we can support you safely.
If you are early postnatal
Your return to physical activity should be gradual and guided by your recovery:
-
After a C-section, please wait until your six-week check before taking part physically.
-
You are welcome to attend earlier as an observer if you wish.
-
Postnatal recovery continues for up to a year — we encourage you to tell us how you’re feeling so we can make appropriate adaptations.
-
If you have abdominal separation (diastasis recti), please let us know so we can modify exercises safely.
-
Our pre- and postnatal specialist tutor is available if you’d like personalised guidance.
You are encouraged to rest, adapt, or observe whenever you need — there is no pressure to push beyond your comfort or recovery level.
💡 Tip: Before your first workshop, use the chatbot and type “Speak to a human” if you’d like to let us know you're pregnant or recently postnatal. This helps us prepare suitable adaptations and ensure you feel fully supported from day one.
