# What happens if my Pilates practical teaching is referred?

## A referral simply means you need a little more support before you meet the full Level 3 teaching standard — it is not a fail.

Practical teaching assessments at Level 3 require you to demonstrate safe, confident and skilful teaching. If your assessor feels you need more time or practice to reach that standard, you will receive a referral — but this is a normal part of the learning process.

### **What a referral means**

- You are **on the right path**, but not quite at the required Level 3 standard yet.
- Your assessor will provide an **action plan** with clear, constructive steps to help you improve.
- You can take the time you need to **learn, practise and refine** your teaching.
- You will then attend a **reassessment**, once you and your assessor agree you are ready.

A referral is designed to support your development, not hold you back.

### **What to expect after a referral**

Your assessor will give you:

- A **detailed action plan** outlining what needs attention
- Specific guidance on **teaching technique, cueing, flow, safety or class structure**
- Suggestions for practice such as:
  
    - Shadowing classes
    - Teaching friends or colleagues
    - Extra self-practice
    - Reviewing online materials
- A **mutually agreed timeframe** for when you will return for reassessment

You will *never* be rushed — the aim is to help you reach a point where you feel confident, solid, and fully prepared.

Level 3 Pilates teaching is a professional qualification. We only pass learners when we are completely confident they can:

- Teach **safely**
- Demonstrate **skilful technique**
- Communicate with **clarity and confidence**
- Lead a class effectively from start to finish

When you pass, you’ll know you are genuinely ready to teach in a real studio environment.
